- National of a sub-Saharan African country, registered for a PhD at an SSA institution, with a host in another SSA country.
- Research need
- Work must be thesis-related, relevant to development in SSA and not reasonably completed at the home institution.
- Publication
- The programme’s thesis-related publication requirement must be met.
